We hired Dreamworx Aviation out of Bunnell Florida to haul the aircraft from Kentucky to Missouri. Josh and his team removed the interior flaps, stabilator halves, and wings and delivered to our hangar in Missouri. They did a great job and were easy to work with. Comanches are tricky to haul over the road. There is no structure on the bottom of the fuselage and it is very easy to “oil can” the fuselage during transport. As you can see the whole plane fit on a 40′ gooseneck equipment trailer. We had to download and re-assemble the aircraft. We used our JD4700 loader tractor and a lifting sling I fabricated out of tubular steel and 2″ lifting straps. Extreme care must be taken while lifting. I used a 14′ utility trailer as a cradle to hold the fuselage during re-assembly. One day I will do a detailed article on how to remove the wings, lift, cradle and re-assemble a Comanche.
